Shame on me!

I've neglected this blog for far too long.  Allow me a moment to reflect on my failure and I'll be back with a new post.  Geez...

New Christmas tradition

I came across this link and fell in love with the idea.

http://tracys-trinkets-treasures.blogspot.com/2010/12/handmade-ornament-with-special.html

I finally made one for each of my kids and I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out!

I also want to decorate a box for under the tree to keep the previous years' letters in.  I wonder where I can find shallow, 8.5 X 11 boxes...

...and you can't make me.

I don't wanna do house work today.  I am doing some, but I don't want to.  So there.

Instead, I'm doing some Christmas prep!  I've addressed the envelopes for my photo cards.  One less thing on my list!  Why Christmas prep in August?  It's Rudolph Day, of course!  Rudolph Day is celebrated each month on the 25th (except December, silly) and is a time to get things ready for the busy holiday season that always sneaks up on us.  After I hang out another load of laundry I'm gonna take everything out of my gift closet and sort sort sort!

Gift closet?  YES!  It's a wonderful place where I can go shopping for last minute gifts all year long, and also hide away things I bought for the kids, friends, family, etc.  It's full right now and I've got to get started or we'll have an avalanche in the hall!  That might be fun if it wasn't secret toys and surprises and silliness that I don't want the kids to see.  Here's my gift closet before, during, and after the sort:

Ok, so I guess it's more like a Cabinet than a closet, but so what...geeze... *grin*

Back to School!!

My family is back in school as of Monday and things are off to a great start!  Andrew is in 2nd grade and Ava is in Kindergarten.  She couldn't have been more excited if I'd said Santa was coming twice this year!  Andrew is holding his own, being his calm, collected, far-too-responsible self and loving life!  My kids rock...what can I say?  Adam, my hubby and part-time 3rd child, has had a relatively stress-free week and that's miraculous!

Breakfast for the first day of school is always something special.  I was introduced to "Puppy Pancakes" by my good friend Aloha Mama who makes those for her children for the first day of school.  I asked my kids what they wanted this year and they both said pancakes, so I made them bacon and eggs!  *giggle*

Another thing I decided to start doing was taking pictures of the kids holding signs indicating their current grade.  I used 12X12 scrapbooking paper and put "First day of..." and will use those them in their scrapbooks as the back ground for the first day of school layout.  Cute, huh?  I didn't come up with that one my own, but I don't remember where I got the idea.  If I find it again, I'll certainly give due credit!

Do you have special traditions for back to school?

Welcome!

Welcome to a world where everything has its place, but doesn't always get there.  Push the magazines off the couch and have a seat!  Let's chat a bit about house keeping, shall we?

SAHM.  What is that, anyway?  Stay At Home Mom.  Ok.  That works.  A Mom who stays home.  I suspect that also means one who doesn't get a pay check, perhaps?  Thought so.  It doesn't mean, though, a Mom who's too lazy to get a job or too selfish to want to contribute financially to the household or or or...  It's a Mom who works 24/7 "keeping house", whatever that means.  So, let's define that, yes?  OK!  This blog is dedicated to defining what a SAHM is to YOU, and also what the heck the term "keeping house" is all about.  Oh, and you don't have to be a Mom to visit or contribute...you could be a SAHD (Dad) or SAHC (cat)...you get the idea.

So, that being said, on with the show!!
